We go with the following information. Since 1972, Father’s Day has been celebrated in Mexico every third Sunday in June. Due to this, the celebration in this 2021 will take place this next June 20. Despite the fact that this is a tradition that emerges from several fronts, all agree that the role of father in a family is not only focused on economic provision, but also on the care and well-being of the family.

Unlike Mother’s Day, the celebration does not have a specific day established in the calendar, as the dates vary over the years. This is a commemorative tradition where the importance of the father within the family is celebrated. Likewise, in the Aztec country, it began to be generalized in schools, approximately around 50 ′, and later it became a special day for all Mexicans.

Why is Father’s Day celebrated in Mexico in June?

Unlike countries such as Spain, Honduras, Italy and Portugal, which celebrate this holiday on March 19 in honor of José, the father of Jesús de Nazaret, Mexico decided to adopt the date that was established in the neighboring country of the United States, which it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.

The date was established by the president of the North American country, Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, although from previous years, this celebration was already given thanks to Sonora Smart Dodd, who mentioned that parents did not have a special day, for which he requested a date to celebrate his father. It was here that he proposed that this be June 5, his father’s birthday.

At the end of the local assembly, it was determined that the parents deserved to have a commemoration day and agreed on the third Sunday in June as the date. In Mexico, it was in 1972 the first that this model was adopted to celebrate Mexican Fathers’ Day.

How to celebrate Father’s Day 2021?

Unlike last year, this year there will be more ways to commemorate Mexican parents. According to statistics from the Government of Mexico and the Ministry of Health, most of the country’s older adults are already immunized, which makes it possible to ease confinement. So the parents who are within this sector, will be able to spend the third Sunday in June in the company of their family.

However, it is necessary to remember that a large part of the country is on a green traffic light, but the authorities still do not allow private parties to be held without the necessary measures or limit of attendees, so the protocol established by the Government must be observed.
